Interning for Senator Sal DiDomenico
The Office of Senator Sal DiDomenico is accepting applications for part-time, unpaid, internships. The office typically accepts interns between May and August, and between September and December (timeframes and hours may vary). Application deadlines for each time frame can be found below.
May – August: Applications are due by March 31st.
September – December: Applications are due by June 15th.
Internship Description
This internship is designed for applicants in the beginning stages of exploring policy-making and government, seeking opportunities to learn more and refine their interests. Typically, interns are seniors in high school, have a high school diploma, or are enrolled in college. Applicants must be 18 years or older.
The internship offers a variety of learning opportunities through exposure to all aspects of a legislative office, including policy research, constituent services, legislative briefings, administrative duties and the legislative process. During the summer, the Senate also schedules optional seminars on different aspects of state government.
While internships are unpaid, many of our past interns have received stipends through their schools. The office will also provide reimbursement on some transportation related costs.
Hours
Interns may work for up to 20 hours per week. Our office is flexible in creating different schedules to fit the needs of applicants who work a different job, attend classes, or have other commitments.
Minimum Requirements
1. Completion of at least three years of high school or equivalent experience. Both high school and college level students, as well as high school graduates (and those with a high school equivalency) are encouraged to apply.
2. The internship is open to all applicants, with a preference for those with permanent residency, or who attend high school or college, in the Middlesex and Suffolk District.
Location
Our team has a hybrid work model, and all interns are expected to work efficiently with team members both in-person and remotely. In-person work will take place in the State House office with some possibility of in-district meetings. A schedule for when interns work remotely, or in-person will be determined at the final stage of the selection process on an individual basis.
